A former Fisherman's cottage in Copenhagen

Sometimes I come across a space which jolts me into a new way of thinking for my own house. This family home of Peter Östergaard and Åsa Olofsson and their children just North of Copenhagen is one of those. A former fisherman's cottage, it's been transformed into a beautiful, modern and light filled space with the help of Norm Archtitects. And it also harbours surprises. Take the break-away red Artemide lamp on the sitting room wall, the wooden shelf adding warmth to the kitchen and the fun, slightly messy children's room which oozes charm. I'm taking these ideas with me for my shoot on Friday, maybe I'll even jump on the bed....!

I think one of my favourite things about this house is the stepping stone on the doorstep which was inspired by zen architecture. Traditionally in Japanese temples, a sculptural stepping stone marks the transition between the house and garden. What a lovely idea don't you think?

Could you live in this light filled home?

I spy: Vitra Eames occasional side table, Eames DSR Side chairs (15% off with MYSCAN). The Moser pendant light for Louis Poulsen and sofa from Swedish brand Ire

If I were to renovate here in Sweden (in my dreams) I would definitely consdier drawing on the help of Norm Architects. You can find other projects of theirs here, here and here

Have a lovely day!

The serene white and wood home of an architect

Hello Monday! I hope you had a great weekend?! Sometimes it's so great to realise that the most beautiful interiors are often also the most simple (and small!).  The Barcelona home of architect and graphic designer Marina Senabre Roca, is the perfect example of this and such great inspiration for compact living. Marina has stuck to a serene white and wood combination throughout her one room apartment which creates a feeling of space and a beautiful oasis in the midst of one of Spain's most vibrant cities.

So beautiful don't you think? You can read more about Marina's home over at the lovely blog Lua Nord.

I've learnt never to underestimate how much plants can add to a home. Whether it's foliage brought in from the garden and placed in a simple glass vase or fresh spring flowers in a riot of colours, plants can do wonders to a space. Do you have a favourite house plant or bunch of flowers for this time of the year? My favourites can be found here (but most importantly I need greenery which doesn't mind being a tad thirsty......!).

This Malmö home is another wonderful example of how plants have been added to a white and wood inspired home to create a beautiful living space. I also love this, this and this scandinavian home.

Could you stick to this palette?

Have a lovely Monday!

A beautiful Dutch family home

It's Friday, finally! The sun's shining (just!) and I'm gearing up for my weekend, yay! Hope you are too. I think the Dutch have impeccable style and similar to the Scandinavian taste in many ways. Take this space for example. The owner has artfully decorated the space to be cool and clean and at the same time relaxed and child friendly. Not easy to achieve! It's actually for rent through Kid & Coe (I KNOW!). It looks like a trip to Amsterdam's in order....

.Kid & Coe.

I am such a big fan of children's indoor swings - they look fab and add such an element of fun. I can't find a place for one in my home (not without footprints all over the wall and the occasional bumped head anyway!). Do you have one in your home?

I also love the sign in the office space....I think I need the same over my desk. A trip to NYC would be perfect right now - what a FANTASTIC city. I have family there but it's been ages since I visited. Have you been? or perhaps you're lucky enough to live there?! My next trip will be that....or Amsterdam :)

More family home tour inspiration found in this relaxed home in Gothenburg, this extremely pretty and playful southern Sweden house and this home with fab vintage touches.

Have a really lovely weekend and see you Monday!
